Want to help raise funds for OSARCC whilst abseiling down one of Oxford's historic churches?
We are looking for more people to join an amazing group of people who are abseiling down St Mary Magdalen's church tower on Magdalen Street in Oxford on Saturday 4th October. No previous experience of abseiling is required, you just need to be over the age of 18 and medically fit.
We are asking for a £40 (non-refundable) registration fee, and for those taking part to aim to raise £100. All funds will be used to ensure that OSARCC is able to continue meeting the needs of women and girls who have experienced sexual violence across Oxfordshire.
"We at St Mary Magdalen’s are very pleased that we can support the important work of OSARCC by hosting this abseil. Sexual violence and abuse continue to blight our society, and those affected need and deserve the help of us all in confronting the consequences and working to prevent it.
The gospels show us Jesus’ taking the side of the marginalised, the vulnerable and the victim, and many of the traditions around our patron saint, Mary Magdalen, remind us of the dangers faced by women in particular, as much today as in the past."
(Father Peter Groves - St Mary Magdalen Church)
"Abseiling down such a visible building in central Oxford will not only raise funds to support the ongoing work of Oxford Sexual Abuse & Rape Crisis Centre but will also help raise the visibility of sexual violence in Oxfordshire and the support that our organisation provides. We hope that this event will ensure even more women and girls across Oxfordshire are aware of, and able to access, the support that we provide."
(Lisa Ward - OSARCC Acting Service Manager)
