OSARCC is looking for new helpline volunteers

OSARCC is looking for new helpline volunteers!

If you are interested in supporting survivors of sexual violence, developing your listening skills, and joining a diverse group of supportive women then OSARCC would love to hear from you. In return for your volunteering, we offer a full and comprehensive training programme, regular supervision, and lots of biscuits!

No previous experiences is required as full training will be provided. We are looking for women who are empathetic, good listeners, sympathetic to our principles and who are team players. We require volunteers to have a good level of English and they must be able to be involved for a minimum of 18 months. Training starts in February 2017 and runs over a series of evenings and weekends.

Who can volunteer?

OSARCC operates a policy of equal opportunities and welcomes applications to volunteer from women from all walks of life. We can currently only accept applications from self-defining women due to the sensitive nature of our work and the fact that the overwhelming majority of our callers are women who only want to speak to other women. We require volunteers to be aged over 18.

We are particularly keen to hear from women who are able to volunteer on a Friday daytime. In order to represent the diversity of our service users we are also particularly keen to recruit women from BME communities, disabled women and older women.
