Group Facilitator (part time)
Salary: 5a (£21,000-£22,980) pro rata, depending on experience
Closing date: 21/12/2018
Oxfordshire Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre (OSARCC) is seeking to appoint a Humanistic / Person-centred Group Facilitator to work with survivors of sexual violence. The post will be based in Oxford with possible travel within Oxfordshire. Support group meetings from January to April 2019 will be on Monday evenings; thereafter on a day/evening to be arranged.
The successful applicant will provide a high-quality support group to women and girls affected by sexual violence and abuse (in 10-12 week blocks), facilitating group sessions through which survivors can both reflect upon and learn to effectively manage some of the difficult issues they may bring. Rather than taking an expert position, the group facilitator will work as a collaborative resource for the group. It is integral to the successful cohesion of the group that the facilitator is able to learn from group members and be respectful of their understanding of their own experience and sense of their own group needs. Further, the recognition that each group member is an individual and how they are able to come to terms with the sexual violence they have been exposed to, and the experience of adjusting to a group environment, will differ. The post-holder will also be required to facilitate some drop-in sessions for women who have completed or are awaiting group or one-to-one counselling support.
This role is subject to receiving Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks and to a six month probationary period.
OSARCC is an equal opportunities employer and encourages applications from candidates from all minority groups. This post is open to women only and is exempt under schedule 9 (Part 1) of the Equality Act 2010.
